I had such a great time with these three even though we didn’t have the greatest weather. We laughed, we walked, we played in the grass and tasted the rocks. From what I recall, it was quite a long decision-making process (at least for Aaron) before they decided to have kids. When we found out they were finally pregnant, we were very excited for them. It’s funny now that since we have little girl; we want our friends to have kids, so they can grow up together. I know it sounds cheesy, but how cool will it be. After he was born, we went to the hospital and got a few pictures of the new boy and his family. We also had a small session a month or so later.  Here are some of our faves.

(Seriously, the first entry is from 1937) Not very often, at least not in my house.  My wife’s family recently uncovered a bag full of diaries that had been stored away in an attic, and seemingly forgotten.  These journals would have just been tossed in the trash if it weren’t for my mother in law who thought it would be an interesting read.  (She’s a big reader.) She took this bag of books home and read through them all and they have since been passed to my brother in law and now to my wife.  It’s really kind of surreal to read about the day to day lives of their relatives directly from them.  We all know history and how life was lived 50-75 years ago but, there is just something special about reading it from a handwritten page, with a quill pen nonetheless.  She talks about everything from England declaring war on Germany, to the 1939 World Series, to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  It’s really quite amazing. Anyways, here are a couple of photos from the early journals plus some photos and journals from the early 1960′s.

Last Saturday I had the chance to photograph little Kaitlyn.  She is just the cutest little thing in the world.  She was an absolute angel the whole time we were shooting, seriously, she smiled almost the whole time.  I was really quite impressed.  Anyway, this was a somewhat mini session, we were in and out in a matter of 20 minutes or so.  Completely enough time to get everything we needed.  Hope you enjoy.

Actually, I think the last time we spent some serious time on a lake was about 6 years ago. My wife and I were recently married and some very good friends of ours had just had their first child. Before we even knew it 3 years had passed, then 5 years, now 6 years. I found out about a boat owned by a coworker, who coincidentally rents his boat out from time to time. I talked to him about getting the boat for the July 4th weekend. I was pleasantly surprised when he said that he didn’t have anyone that needed the boat. Who owns a boat and doesn’t use it on a weekend like that? I really can’t complain about it though. The 4th came along and we packed up the Prius and headed to the campground where our friends were staying just minutes from the lake. We met up with them and headed up the road, four adults and now 3 little ones. The little one that was born just before our last boat trip is now 7, along with his little sister at 5, and our baby girl at 3, there is also an absolutely adorable addition who was to young to come out with us. Hopefully she will up on the blog soon. This was one of the best weekends I’ve had in quite some time. If you would have asked me where I would be now, 10 years ago. I don’t honestly think I would have predicted this. I love my life. Thanks to the Gerbers for making that weekend great.

We had the chance to take our daughter to the Kelli Miller traveling circus the other week.  It was the first time for all of us and an experience it was.  It was quite obvious the budget for the circus was a fraction of Ringling Bros., maybe a fraction of a fraction but none the less it was fun to watch.  Here are some of the photo’s from the day.

It was a huge lift to my spirits.  There was a great moment when we were saying goodbye to my in-laws that my daughter grabbed my my wifes hand.  There is just something about the bond between a mother and her child that makes me smile.  I am so glad that I caught this moment.  I can really feel the love just from that little grasp of a finger.
